A woman (27years) can go by herself in restaurant in the evening to eat yakitori for example?

kunoichi kunoichi, Living in Japan

It is no problem for a woman to eat alone in a Yakitori restaurant. There are often bar seats in Yakitori restaurants so you can choose to sit there, too. Recently, there are some restaurants dedicated for single visitors, such as Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurants for single visitors. There are...

I want to explore the world of sake in Japan, visit sake and beer breweries and Izakaya bars.

kunoichi kunoichi, Living in Japan

KURAND is a bar type restaurant where you can try over 100 kinds of sake with a fixed price: ¥3,000. I have never been here but seems like a great place to try out various labels of sake. They have several branches in central Tokyo. The link below is Shinjuku branch. http://kurand.jp/sakemarket/s...

Mari Takahashi Mari Takahashi, Living in Japan

It is still hard to find non-smoking Izakaya in Tokyo. I'm not sure this is the type of Izakaya you are looking for, but I went there few month ago and atmosphere was very quiet and nice:Chachahanahttps://tabelog.com/en/tokyo/A1304/A130401/13004164/Chachahana is near Golden Gai and specializes in...

They separate the tables for  smorking and non-smorking. The atmosphere is quiet and you can enjoy the night view of Shinjuk...

I am traveling to Tokyo with my husband and our 6 years old, can we go to a Izakaya restaurant with the child?

Mari Takahashi Mari Takahashi, Living in Japan

It may depend on Izakayas. In my opinion, rather chain Izakayas are children friendly. They have separate smoking and non-smoking seats and seats are Zashiki style (Japanese style where you sit on the floor). Authentic & historical Izakayas where there are no English menu tend to have only smokin...

leo leo, Living in Japan

It's totally OK to bring 6 year child to Izakaya. Actually, there are many Izakaya restaurant where prepare menu for family and child. The one thing you should concern would be some Izakaya doesn't separate the smoking area and non-smoking area, so your child might get the cigaretttes' smoke.

Mari Takahashi Mari Takahashi, Living in Japan

The good point here is that because there are lots of tourists, people are used in foreigners. Tsukishima is known for Monjayaki, but there are small Izakayas in narrow streets if you ...
