Shinjuku is BIG, like seriously BIG. They have every kind of food that you can imagine. Whether you want a bowl or ramen or a PB&J sandwich, Shinjuku has a restaurant that can accommodate.

If you want something cheap, I would recommend Sutameshi. There are 3 or 4 shops in Shinjuku. They make a version of the popular Beef Bowl, but with pork. It's delicious.

If you want Sushi, go to Himawari. It's a good kaitensushi with fresh fish and english menus that doesn't feel like a tourist trap.

You can also check sites like gurunavi to see what is available in the area.

And for dessert, make sure to check out Takano Fruits Parlor. They always serve seasonal foods. It's a little on the pricey side, but it offers a great view and even better sweets.

Other than that, if you could be a little more specific about what types of food you want to try/eat, we could probably offer a little more help.
