Interest in Japanese Culture ancient buildings sights,No Western affects

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

You will find no shortage of temples and shrines in Kyoto - enough to last over a year. If you want to see the more traditional areas, there is Higashiyama, not to mention in the evening Pontocho and Gion.Kanazawa also has its chaya areas but the crown jewel of the city is the Kenrokuen Garden - ...

what should I do in Kyoto ?

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

It all depends on your interests - not to mention the season and the weather (which sometimes stinks). If you like old temples and shrines, you will find heaven in Kyoto with over 2000 of them. If you dislike them, then you'll find Kyoto more of a challenge to enjoy - but it is possible. Even if ...

Hello! Japaneese sockets are different from european, but I can't find any adapters in my home city. Do I get in right, that japaneese sockets are same with dual american ones? And is it actually a necessity to buy an adapter in advance?

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

To be specific, Japanese sockets are compatible with North American ones. Although North American plugs are polarized - so an American plug can be inserted into a Japanese outlet. However, Japanese extension cords and taps are not, so you'd need a plug adapter to use them. (You can pick one up at...

Hi,I'm coming to Japan for the first time, what should I visit to understand better the Japanese culture?

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

"Japanese culture" is extremely broad - you need to find more about what you like. For example, its food, music, castles, arts, temples/shrines, nature, gardens, hiking, night life, museums, shopping, history, and much more.No visit to Japan would be complete without going to a nice hot spring (o...

Which hidden places should I visit when in Ise area?

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

No place is really "hidden" - but there are some good sights in the area, aside from the obvious Ise Shrine.Another big place is the Kumano Nachi Taisha with the famous Nachi waterfall - widely regarded as one of Japan's best. There is also Spain Mura which is a theme park with various roller coa...

Konnichiwa! May I ask, how to go to Hakone by JRpass?

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

You can't see the sights of Hakone on a JR Pass. But you can go to either Odawara Stn or Mishima Stn by JR, and then use a Hakone Free Pass to tour the area. You didn't mention where you are coming from. But both JR stations have bullet train stops, so it can be convenient. There is a Hakone Free ...

Visiting Tokyo and Osaka with a 5 year old. Any tips on child friendly places to visit would be greatly appreciated!

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

It's all up to your interests of course. Some would say the Disney Parks near Tokyo, and Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, but really, why would you fly around the world just to go to an American theme park? Wouldn't you rather prefer to experience Japan? There are Japanese places to enjoy a lot. ...

which is the best pocket wifi for 2 weeks?

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

There really is no "best". You have to find which conditions, prices, and limitations suit you best. Starting with how much bandwidth you plan to use. Plus how many days you want to use it. Some places are more expensive for the first week but cheaper over the long term, others are not. Some char...

Hello! I'll be travelling to Japan from the U.S. in April. What is the official website in which to buy train tickets? For example, one trip I will be making is from Toyko to Gamagori.

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

First, you have not given your full itinerary - a JR Pass might or might not save you money. If you don't travel enough, a JR Pass can be a waste of money also. You can buy the JR Pass (assuming you'd save with one) from nearly any big travel agency that sells tickets to Japan, or there are other ...

Where would you go at night if you had 2 days in Tokyo (after going to 1 day in Tokyo Disneyland and the other in DisneySea)

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

I'd go to the places that interest me. Which may be different than what interests you.Try looking through the JNTO Tokyo Page, or Japan Guide, or the official city tourist page to get some ideas. Some night city views can be nice, but places like the Sky Tree are expensive. There are however many...

Tips when you are going to the Tsukiji Fish Market after 6am in the morning.

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

If you want to take the tour, you'd be too late. You'd need to be there 3:30-4 AM to have a chance. There's nothing special to advise for your time. There are many places to eat, some popular ones even have a long line. Wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a good coat. Be careful not to obstruct a...

It is all up to your interests.Try browsing through Bento.com But honestly, don't waste too much time chasing down restaurants unless it is something really special you want to experience - there are good places everywhere, and your sightseeing time is limited.

How to start a used car trading business from Japan?

Toraneko Toraneko, Lived in Japan

I really have to ask how much research you have made into this. Sell Japanese market cars in America? How many people do you know are eager to drive a car with the driver's seat on the right hand side? Many smaller cars would never be allowed on US roads - they would easily fail the crash safety ...
