2. Asakusa Imahan (浅草 今半)

Asakusa Imahan is a legend in the art of sukiyaki and shabu-shabu with its signature Imahan Wagyu Beef. It has been operational since 1895 and also has another branch at Ningyocho Imahan, run by the owner’s son. I’d recommend you try out the Asakusa Imahan because the branch at Ningyocho Imahan serves sukiyaki and Shabu-Shabu more expensive than Asakusa Imahan, also, Asakusa Imahan is very close from the famous Sensoji Temple.

Beside the waitress wear kimono, Imahan also has menu in English, which is a plus for foreigners, and the waitress will demonstrate how to cook the beef before you can do everything yourself. Before order, you will be treated with appetizer: assorted pickles and hot green tea.

3. Serina (瀬里奈)

Serina is a wonderful place to explore Japanese cuisine and enjoy their special Kobe beef Shabu- Shabu. Established in 1961, Serina has five restaurants in Tokyo, it’s much liked by the relaxing atmosphere, with three floors for dining, and a bar on the top floor.

Kagayaki is one of the special high-end Shabu-Shabu restaurants that serves all-you-can-drink services. The drink bar has a variety of drinks that will sure please you! Kagayaki not only popular for its delicious wagyu but also for the hotpots and grilled dishes. Of course, the reservation is sometimes hard, usually 2 weeks beforehand reservation is recommended.

6. Yasaiya Mei (やさい家 めい)

This is one of the few restaurants in Tokyo that looks out for food intolerances like gluten and dairy. The shop focuses on a great amount and options of chicken, beef, duck, as well as fresh vegetables and tofu. You can have the “vegetable Shabu-Shabu”.

One of the special things is they have a great introductory natto as a side dish, among a nice balance of herbs, chives, and egg yolk. Yasaiya Mei also serves a wide range of sake and shochu, too.
