Hakuunsou (白雲荘)

This ryokan’s room are divided into A, B, C, D, E, F, and G types. Among them, C type has a balcony and is also connected to both indoor and outdoor baths. B type offer also a room divided in traditional tatami floor with futons and a western side provided by a cozy sofa. A type is smaller than the other two types and more private. Another interesting point is that for the C type, each room has the name of a tree, and outside each room’s windows you will see the same tree of the room’s name.

Ashikari (阿しか里)

Ashikari is probably the smallest ryokan on this list, with just 18 rooms and private hot spring baths available. The Ryokan Tokyo Yugawara is the only one on this list which has a glimpse of modernity mixed with tradition.
