“Yoshoku” is the name used for dishes imported from foreign countries (such as America, India, Italy, France, etc.) which have been modified to fit the Japanese taste, becoming a part of Japanese cuisine. Some of them are still very similar to their western version, but it may be interesting to try them and find by yourself which version do you like the most. Very famous yoshoku dishes are for example “omurice” (omelet), curry rice, tonkatsu (pork cutlet), beef stew, “guratan” (gratin), etc.
