It’s easy to find good food and great restaurants in Japan, and of course, Akihabara is not an exception. Why don’t you visit these restaurants below for the perfect lunch of Japan’s cuisine taste instead of pass by some random fast food restaurants?

1. Kanda Matsuya (神田まつや)

Built in 1924, Matsuya welcomes the customers with wooden tables, giant white paper lanterns hanging outside. If you can pay a visit to the place, it’s best to enjoy your soba with some simple side dishes such as toasted seaweed; some tempura; or a stick or two of yakitori. Kanda Matsuya is located at a walkable distance from the famous Akihabara Electric town.

They serve both hot ramen in the cold season and cold ramen in the summer. Despite its popular, the shop is quite small and there’s no English menu as well as English speaking staff, but don’t worry, there are images come with the menu!

3. Marugo (丸五)

Must say this is one of the best tonkatsu restaurants in Tokyo that you shouldn’t miss. The restaurant has two floors and probably seats about 30 people, but since this is a very popular place, I’d recommend you to come here for late lunch in order to avoid waiting too long in line. The menu is varied with different kinds of meat use to make tonkatsu, but in short, they are all juicy, tender, and delicious!

5. Gyukatsu Ichinisan (牛かつ 壱弐参)

It seems all the popular shops in Japan have a very small space, as so does Ichinisan, the place can serve about 10 people at once. The special thing here, there’s a board inside the store said that you will only have to wait no more than 60 seconds since you seated and order the food. A normal set will have high-quality beef wrapped in light delicious crispy batter, and 3 different sauces, with a bowl of rice and a small dish of salad and miso soup. Come and get in line, it’s worth the wait!

Actually, they offer the option of choosing the degree of the spiciness so everyone can enjoy it! The curry mostly has vegetable ingredients, you can also order some extra toppings such as cheese or bacon if you want to!
